MacroPac Online Application Notes
These are our original application notes for MacroPac, using an old version of the program. There is also a page showing
some illustrative examples - follow
this link to reach it.
The additional application
notes, summarized below, show some of our early studies on how MacroPac has been applied to different problems. They are in PDF format, so can be read
by Adobe Acrobat Reader, for example. These were produced with earlier versions
of MacroPac.

Improving polymeric magnets with MacroPac
-
MacroPac has been used to understand the
packing of particles in polymeric magnets. Simulations with MacroPac identified the best particle shape that would maximise
the filler volume fraction in ICI's Magnaquench material. Further analysis of
particle orientation helped predict the anisotropic performance of the magnet. View magnets.pdf.
- Improving injection moulding of short fibre filled
composites with MacroPac
- MacroPac has been used to study short
fibre reinforced composites. High fibre volume fractions were found to be
achievable where there was a high degree of local ordering. These orientation
effects were more significant with high aspect-ratio fibres. Local ordering
occurs at hard boundaries such as mould walls in injection moulding systems. View fibres.pdf
